Novilase

Novilase® delivers laser energy directly into the tumor.  With Novilase, the tumor is destroyed by laser heat, rather than cut out with a scalpel.  By carefully monitoring and controlling the laser energy, Novilase confirms the precise ablation of the targeted tissue.  Because Novilase is less invasive, it can be performed in 30-60 minutes in an outpatient setting, such as a breast center or doctor’s office, using only local anesthesia.  Lasers have already been used to treat other medical conditions such as benign prostate disease (BPH).

The safety and efficacy of Novilase has been established in a clinical trial and the FDA has cleared Novilase for the treatment of benign tumors of the breast that are 2cm or less in diameter.

The major advantages of Novilase over traditional invasive breast surgery are:

  • A minimally invasive procedure - access via 2 small needles rather than a scalpel
  • Local anesthesia rather than general anesthesia or IV sedation
  • Minimal generation of post-operative scar
  • Reduced risk of surgical complications
  • Shorter preparation and quicker recovery time
  • Does not preclude any future medical or surgical treatment options
