Novian Health has developed, tested and patented a device and method that uses interstitial laser therapy (ILT) to ablate breast tumors in an efficient and precise manner. Novilase Breast Therapy is performed on an outpatient basis in approximately 30 minutes. During the procedure, laser energy is delivered via an optic fiber threaded through a small needle, guided exactly to the target center. The tumor is ablated by controlled heating. Tests have demonstrated the safety and efficacy of ILT in patients with breast tumors. The effect has been verified by pathological examination and imaging modalities. Novian Health received its first 510(k) FDA clearance for benign tumors and will also seek approval for the treatment of malignant tumors.
